Almost there. Your build is on the way.
Preparing your download…
Open-source apps are sometimes flagged by the OS—that does not mean they are unsafe. Below is what to tap if you see a security prompt, and what Kalam will ask permission for.
Permissions you’ll see
Kalam only asks for what dictation needs. You can review or change these in your system settings later.
Microphone
Capture audio for speech-to-text—local or cloud, depending on your Settings.
Accessibility / Input
macOS Accessibility or Windows input simulation so text is typed into the app in focus.
Notifications
Optional—reminders and update notices if you enable them in the app.
Security prompts for your system
Windows — Microsoft Defender SmartScreen
You may see Windows protected your PC or an “unrecognized app” warning. Kalam is open source; without broad code-signing reputation, SmartScreen can be cautious.
- Click More info.
- Click Run anyway (wording may vary by Windows version).
Only download Kalam from this site or official GitHub releases.
macOS — Gatekeeper
The first open may say the app can’t be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
- Open Finder → Applications (or Downloads).
- Control-click Kalam → Open → confirm Open.
Or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
Linux
Your browser or file manager may warn before running an AppImage or installing a .deb.
- AppImage: mark executable, then run from terminal or file manager.
- .deb: install via package manager; you may need admin credentials.
We couldn’t detect your desktop OS. Pick an installer under All downloads, then follow your OS prompts for downloaded apps.
